Bonding Texas Subcontractors – Things are looking up!
Six new laws have effectively changed the game for Texas subcontractors. Last year, Governor Rick Perry signed off on the new legislation to help improve the public-policy environment for construction subcontractors – it has worked. Since June 2011, Texas has moved up from position number 29 to position 10 in the American Subcontractors Association’s (ASA) annual ranking report titled “The Policy Environment in the States.” That’s an impressive improvement for such a short period of time.
The six new laws provide protection to subcontractors by allowing them more time to file lien claims, streamline filing processes, ban broad-form indemnification clauses, and more. There is still room for improvement, but laws like these vastly improve the outlook for subcontractors.
